What would you do for a bailout deal?

They're back. No - I am not talking about a poltergeist. I am referring to the Big 3 automakers' CEOs on Capitol Hill. This time, instead of traveling by private jet, they are all commuting the 500 miles from Detroit to Washington, DC by car (fuel efficient models of course). They will be testifying before lawmakers today. Each company has different plans in mind in regard to bailout requests. Ford seems to be the most secure in their ability to survive and thrive. GM is in a somewhat more precarious position, while Chrysler seems to be in the worst shape and is asking for the most assistance. MSNBC made a little cartoon of the trek (see video below):

All of this recent talk about what the GM, Ford, and Chrysler CEOs are willing to do to for bailouts - like forgoing private planes, getting one-cent annual salaries, etc., reminds me of an old commercial for a frozen novelty treat. Remember Klondike Bars? Their famous pitch line is - "what would you do for a Klondike Bar?" Hey, desperate times call for desperate measures. OK, the CEOs may not be as desperate as a former child star of 80s sitcom Different Strokes, but it could be close (see video below):
