The first is these parts is a fascinating morphing video that shows all 44 Presidents of the United States - including Barack Obama, of course. The blendings - how one image flows into the other - are so interesting to watch. It reaffirmed for me that realization feeling that I had last night, that we will have the first black President of the United States. I am sure that is not the first - or last time - that this thought will come to mind. I am proud to be one of the millions of people who brought it to fruition. Here is the video below:
Next, is an interesting little story that took place in my hometown, Philadelphia. It was brought to light by Campbell Brown, during her "Cutting through the Bull" segment on CNN. Governors were in Philadelphia to meet with Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Pennsylvania Governer Ed Rendell was hosting the event. Ed Rendell did not seem to understand tip #34 in hosting good parties - in that you never talk about your guests until after they leave. Especially, especially, in front of an open microphone. Here is what Campbell Brown describes:
Speaking about Obama's Homeland Security Secretary pick, Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, Ed Rendell said, "Janet's perfect for that job. Because for that job, you have to have no life. Janet has no family, perfect. She can devote, literally, 19-20 hours a day to it."
Oops - that can't be good. The video is below. One thing that is not mentioned by Campbell Brown, is that Ed Rendell made the same open mic mistake in regard to Sarah Palin, remarking that she may not be a genius, but that she has good political sense.
OK, lastly in these odds and ends, is the story that CBS News chief political consultant Mark Ambinder reported today, that Jeb Bush (photo below) is "seriously considering" running for Florida Senate now that Mel Martinez has decided not to seek a second term in 2010. Can't you feel it coming? Jeb Bush for President in 2012? A few years as governor, a couple of years in the Senate, and he will be set. The more paranoid part of me has always felt that the Republican base always knew that 2008 was not going to be their year. They may have seen John McCain as somewhat expendable. If he happened to win, he would be out by 2012 (most likely). If he lost, well, no big deal. He is older, and I don't think that they were completely behind him anyway. He may have been the sacrificial lamb for a season in which they were destined to lose.
