I Say, I Say Son...

Something about Rush Limbaugh reminds me of Foghorn Leghorn lately. Remember Foghorn? He was the Warner Brothers' rooster with a strong Kentucky or Virginia accent. He wasn't a headliner, like Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck, but he was definitely well known for his antics and unique vocalizing style.

During the past several weeks, Rush Limbaugh has been getting a heck of a lot of press. Most recently, there was the comment that he made regarding his wanting President Obama to fail. In particular, that he would want his "socialist" economic agenda to fail. Limbaugh has been going back and forth with Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, suggesting on his radio show the GOP leader appears to be supporting President Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Limbaugh said, "I frankly am stunned that the chairman of the Republican National Committee endorses such an agenda. I have to conclude that he does because he attacks me for wanting it to fail," said Limbaugh.

Does Rush want Obama - or Obama's economic plan to be more precise - to fail? Who knows? Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. Some part of me thinks that it really doesn't matter. What does matter - is that Limbaugh is getting lots or press. That is something that he definitely does want. Hey, even Rahm Emanuel stoked the fires last weekend by talking about Rush on Face the Nation: "Well, he was given the keynote, basically, at the Conservative Caucus to speak. When a Republican did attack him, he was -- clearly had to turn around and come back and basically said that he's apologizing and was wrong. And I do think he's an intellectual force, which is why the Republicans pay such attention to him."

So, at least for now, Rush Limbaugh is to the RNC what Foghorn Leghorn is to Warner Brothers - a bold, vocal character to entertain you while waiting for Bugs or Daffy to come on. I don't think that the Republicans know who those lead players will be yet - although it seems that Bobby Jindal isn't up to the task yet. Oh - just in case all this Warner Brothers talk put you in the mood for some cartoons - I am attaching a video below.
