Friday Roundup

# 1 - The Vice Presidential debate was yesterday evening, and viewership was higher than it was for the recent Obama/McCain matchup. Joe Biden did excellently, and Sarah Palin did much better than everyone expected. Biden was direct and to the point, without being long-winded or condescending. Palin managed to get her talking points out there and took the more "folksy" kind of approach. One thing that can be said, is that both individuals on the stage last night seem to be pretty charming people. In some ways, they were more enjoyable to watch than McCain and Obama during their first debate. Both Biden and Palin seem to have some appreciation of individuals, separate from their politics. It is a shame that the one thing that they both agreed on, is that same sex couples should not be able to marry. Gay couples, according to them both, can share the sad things (hospital visits, living wills, etc.) - but not the fun stuff - like weddings. But, that aside, the debate was fairly enjoyable to watch, and definitely did not hurt either party.

#2 - On Friday afternoon, The House easily passed the financial rescue package on the second try, 263-171. Bush says that he will sign the bill once it reaches his desk. All parties involved - got to have a little bit of "end of the week" drama, and go home feeling that they really worked hard. Whether or not anyone will take responsibility for this longstanding financial decay, has yet to be seen.

#3 - Speaking of longstanding decay - I would not usually include a Fox Network video in my blog, but this one was kind of fun (see below):
