We've only just begun.

Did you ever get a gut feeling that you knew who was going to be nailed next when government investigations were going on? My oldest friend told me that as a kid, she knew who was going to be named (aside from Nixon)during the Watergate trials. To tell you the truth, I was nine years old in 1972 and a very ignorant nine years at that. I remember watching the brother-sister singing duo The Carpenters on PBS the night that Nixon gave his resignation speech.

Well, Rod Blagojevich is being told to resign his position, and this time I do have one of those feelings of whom is going to be named next. A law enforcement official confirms that the person referred to in the federal criminal complaint against Gov. Rod Blagojevich as "Candidate 5" is Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. Incoming White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett has her own pseudonym - "Candidate 1." I have a sense that Jackson and Jarrett will be OK. The person whom I do think may "take a hit" is Danny Davis, the 67 year old State Representative of Illinois. Davis is older than Jackson and Jarrett and may have gotten his official seal of doom last Thanksgiving. Here is the Chicago Sun Times excerpt of the event:

It was at a Thanksgiving Day event with his old friend U.S. Rep. Danny Davis (IL-7) that IL Governor Rod Blagojevich joked "Where's Senator Davis?" and raised suspicions that the 11 year veteran congressman may emerge as the next U.S. Senator from Illinois."Congressman Davis is a very good person. He and I have worked together in Congress, and I know the kind of man he is. I know that he is a good, decent man, and you don't find a lot of that in politics." "I'm breaking my rules about speculating on a candidate, but Congressman Davis is here, and I can tell you he's certainly a strong candidate for the position" (see photo below):
Representative Davis also has one strike against him regarding an incident in 2004. In 2004, Davis was met with national controversy when he crowned the Rev. Sun Myung Moon in a religious ceremony at the Dirksen Senate Office Building honoring the controversial spiritual leader. Moon named himself the Messiah at the crowning ceremony, in which Davis appeared on the invitation as a sponsoring co-chair. Davis wore white gloves and carried the crown on a pillow to crown Moon and his wife "the King and Queen of Peace."

It should be noted that Davis denied any mentioning of a pay off demand when describing his recent talk with Blagojevich (see video):
