Get the Sensation - in Mexico

Well, another one bites the dust.  Another manufacturer is leaving the United States and heading to the land of low-paid employees.  This time, it is a company near my hometown in Philadelphia.  Today, the Associated Press released this statement:

"Production of York Peppermint Patties and other candy brands is coming to an end at The Hershey Company plant in Reading.  After 23 years in Reading, the chocolate maker is closing the plant Friday and moving production to a new factory it has built in Monterey, Mexico. Hershey  says it will mean the loss of about 260 jobs in the southeastern Pennsylvania city."

One of the things that President Obama spoke about during his campaigning for office, was that he was going to try to put a limit on the financial incentives of companies to relocate their businesses outside of the United States.  The chances of that happening sooner rather than later is probably very low, particularly with the current state of the economy.  For now, at least, companies are still choosing to jump ship, rather than sink completely.  As a little bon voyage, I am including a clip of one of the classic York Peppermint Pattie commercials; by the way - 5th Avenue Bars, Zagnuts, and Jolly Rancher candies will also be included in the relocation:
